HLPOA ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING MINUTES 2018

Meeting Chaired by Marilyn Pollitt.

  • There was no AGM in 2017,
  • 2016 minutes meeting were reviewed.
  • Motion to have 2016 minutes approved: Chris Haist
            • Seconded: Darrell Jarvis

Approved.

  • Dec 30, 2017 Financial report review:

 Legal Fund:         $1999.17

 General Fund:     $ -70.83

 Available Funds: $1928.34

Members agreed to keep legal and general funds separate.

UPDATES:

FISHING: Various sizes of trout indicate they are spawning

FIRE HUTS/EQUIPMENT:

  • Huts require minor maintenance including painting.
  • Darrell Jarvis will confirm that Richard Hiley is willing to continue maintaining fire huts (service and filling)
  • Discussed inviting members to a training on how to use pumps/location of pumps etc and if the Birchcrest siren is working

WATER QUALITY REPORT – BRUCE PEARSON

  • 2017 Phosphorus levels increased by 2 from 2016.  This increase is primarily due to high run off levels in 2016.
  • Awaiting results from 2018 sample taken in the spring.
  • Algae:  “Elephant snot” algae has been identified in feeder lakes near Rock Island.  MNR has stated this is not a concern. However, if you see algae, take a picture and send to Bruce at  brucep_965@hotmail.com

WEBSITE UPDATE

Bruce Pearson asked if someone was willing to take over the website.  Paul Lindsay volunteered.

NEW BUSINESS:

How to increase membership:

Email/mailing list will be updated by new secretary.

Website will include explanation of how the money from dues is used.  It will also include online payment options and a newsletter.

Flyers to be distributed

Regatta flyer to included “dues” form worked in previous years

Rock Markers:

  • Members approved (seconded by Ted Taylor) to provide Dave Stewart $100 to buy new chain and marker.
  • Pat Haggerty and Mike Taylor will install.

Association Archives and Regatta Supplies:

To be collected from Michael Freel and stored at Birchcrest

2018 REGATTA:

Date:  Saturday August 4th (rain date- Sunday August 5th)

Time: 1:00pm

Place: Birchcrest Resort

Volunteers:  The Cooksons will supply shirts and help with kid’s games
